This morning I was reading the chapter in my textbook on American Military history regarding the years between the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812, and a paragraph that seemed quite timely in light of current events caught my eye: The militia issue was also central to the shaping of the Second Amendment to the Constitution: the right to keep and bear arms.
