LESSON I. John 1:1-5 The author of this well-known Gospel narrative is the apostle John, who in his own writings is often called the disciple whom Jesus loved. John probably was a cousin of Jesus (chapter 19:25) and was at first a disciple of the Baptist with his brother James.
