Rev. Holstege applies the Reformed doctrine of God's covenant and the antithesis between light and darkness to the missional calling of lay members in the church. Through Matthew 5:14's metaphor of believers as the light of the world, he challenges covenant members to live out their faith visibly and distinctly in all spheres of life—home, school, workplace, and neighborhood—as a witness to the unregenerate around them.
