This article by Joel Minderhoud examines air and oxygen as fundamental examples of God's providential care and provision, using the annual Day of Prayer observed in the Protestant Reformed Churches as a framework. The author argues that modern North American society has become disconnected from recognizing daily dependence on God's creation, and encourages renewed consciousness of this dependence through meditation on essential natural elements.
It is at this time of the year that we in the Protestant Reformed Churches and other Reformed churches that hold to the same Church Order (Art. 67) observe our annual Day of Prayer.
