John Calvin
John Calvin (Johannes Calvijn) was born on July 10, 1509 with the name Jean Cauvin, in the city of Noyon, in the Northern part of France. His father was Gerard Cauvin, the son of a skipper from Pont-l’Evêque (near Noyon), where he was in a leading position in all kinds of religious and business organizations.
