The great sin that the people of Israel had com­mitted, so we wrote, is pardoned, and thus the nation will live and enter with the Lord into His rest. This the Lord now definitely declared. It is the plain' im­plication of His proclamation of His name, made when He passed before Moses. He is the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering and abundant in good­ness and truth.
