The State Reformed Church of Biggekerke
On the Dutch island of Walcheren (province of Zeeland) you find the small town of Biggekerke, close to the more well-known seaside resort of Valkenisse. There on the heavy sea clay this church was built; the tower in 1400, the rest somewhat later. The tower never needed to be restored. This church has had a famous minister in the years 1832-1834; his name was H.J. Buddingh. He belonged to the Calvinist dissenters (“Afgescheidenen”) and came in conflict with the consistory.
