This article begins a series exploring family histories of early Protestant Reformed Church in America members, using the Holstege family as the first case study. The author traces his great-grandfather Lambert Holstege's immigration from the Dutch village of Doornspijk to Michigan in 1881, providing historical context about the Dutch Secession churches and the circumstances that prompted emigration to America. The resource offers genealogical and social historical perspective on the founding families of the PRCA during the period leading up to 1924.
