General Marshal’s Appointment
The appointment of Gen. George C. Marshall as Secretary of State by President Truman has evoked considerable comment in the national press. By and large, the bulk of this comment has extolled the wisdom and sagacity of Mr. Truman in selecting a man of such caliber to succeed the Hon. James Byrnes.
