Oct. 5, 1043 Dear Friends: While we picture a fall of beautiful changing trees and cool weather in Grand Rapids, we here in Taft, Calif, notice no change in the season as yet. In fact, we are experiencing severe heat in the desert. But fortunately, most of the homes and buildings in Gardner Field are equipped with coolers which are still in use most of the day.
