David Engelsma reports on five Illinois congregations leaving the Reformed Church in America (RCA) for the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), with particular attention to Pastor Ben Kappers' explanation of the departure based on concerns about biblical authority, inerrancy, doctrinal drift on sexuality, and the adoption of the Belhar Confession. The article examines whether the PCA represents a genuine Reformed alternative to what departing congregations viewed as theological compromise in the RCA.
