I have grown up in a family that believes in God and the Bible, and therefore have never doubted the truth that I have been taught. The Bible has always been there in our family. I never even thought to believe anything else because this makes logical sense. Yet the question asks why, and so I must answer why. Many scientists believe that there has to be a reasonable scientific explanation for everything that ever happened on earth. They always seem to be coming up with some new explanation...
