Once upon a time there were two wise men and a fool. All three were motoring along a road which traversed a mountainous island. The road was a dangerous one; rough, narrow, hilly, and winding, it was bordered on the one side by the sheer rock wall of a mountain cliff, and on the other by emptiness ending in the sea far below.
