Cambridge Platform deadlock. Every experienced officebearer knows what happens in a congregation that is deadlocked in a controversy. To their credit, the Congregationalists recognized that deadlock is unsatisfactory. Their last word, therefore, to the divided church was, " ... in which case, it is proper to seek council" (p. xi).
