Public Worship in the Church
The Lord's Supper. -- This sacrament of the Lord Supper was instituted directly by Christ. Matt. 26:28; Luke 22:19. To Christ certainly the bread and the wine were signs of His broken body and shed blood, that is, of His human nature in which He atoned the sons of His people. Not His, to be sure, was the teaching that these elements are changed into His very flesh and blood, so that the communicants eat Him physically.
