Huizinga argues that warfare is an inescapable and imperative theme throughout Scripture, the Psalter, the Three Forms of Unity, and Reformed catechism, demonstrating that the Christian life necessarily involves spiritual combat. Drawing on Old Testament examples of Israel's military campaigns and David as a prefiguration of Christ, the author contends that believers must be conscious of this biblical imperative to "war a good warfare" as central to Christian discipleship.
