The prophetic office should be defined as follows: the right and the capacity to receive and impart a divine communication. The right to speak and divine capacitation is implied in the calling. Let us now put the question: What was the essence of the prophetic office? and the answer, a knowledge or insight into the secret counsel of God. Whereas the Lord imparts his secrets to his friends only, the prophet was a friend of Jehovah. Let us incorporate the above-cited elements in our definition....
