Looyenga explores the doctrine of the image of God as understood within the Protestant Reformed Churches, using the metaphor of a diamond to illuminate the corporate and multi-faceted nature of how God's elect people bear His image. The article builds on earlier discussion of the material versus formal aspects of the image of God, examining how the organic composition and faceted structure of a diamond serve as theological analogies for understanding sanctification and the collective expression of God's image in the church.
