David Engelsma provides a critical Reformed theological examination of premillennialism, defining the doctrine and contrasting it with New Testament teaching about Christ's expectation for the church in the present age. Drawing on Scripture and Herman Bavinck, Engelsma argues that premillennialism's vision of an earthly Jewish kingdom contradicts Jesus's teaching that His disciples should expect persecution, not earthly dominion, in the current age.
