Remembering the Days of Old
This meditative article by James Slopsema expounds Deuteronomy 32:7 to establish biblical principles underlying Christian education and catechism instruction. Slopsema argues that the younger generation's calling to remember God's works and ask their elders, combined with the older generation's responsibility to teach, provides the theological foundation for Christian schools and catechetical training in the church.
Just before Moses ascended Mount Nebo to see the promised land and then die, he sang a lengthy song to Israel. In this song Moses set forth the faithfulness of God. "He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he" (v. 4).
