We should keep in mind that Jesus is addressing his disciples in this Chapter and the next; it is an eschatological discourse. Two closely related questions are here answered by our Lord. They are concerning the fact, that, according to Jesus' word, not one stone in the temple would remain standing and that would not be thrown down! The utter destruction of the temple in the light of the prophetic word! We do well to give heed unto it as unto a light which shineth in a dark place until the day...
