Paul could write: "Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye recon- ciled to God" (II Corinthains 5:20). Notice the language of that text. The message the apostles bring is: "be ye reconciled to God." That is the im- perative of the Gospel.
