Wm. O. Douglas has written an in­teresting and worthwhile book, entitled “Strange Lands and Friendly People. This is a description of his travel through the Middle East and Asia, thru such lands as Persia, Iraq, Syria, Pales­tine, and India. He travelled the roads that were not usually travelled by tourists and was able to meet the com­mon people as well as the leaders of the different places visited.
