The Symbolism of Metals in the Old Testament
Perhaps the most fitting passage of scripture to be read in this connection would be the twentieth-eighth chapter of Job where we have a contrast between earth's most precious metals, and the greatest prize of heaven, wisdom. The chapter touches upon the process of mining, and the miner's life, mentioning four of the six metals which are named in scripture. These metals are silver, gold, iron and copper ("brass," A.V.).
