The Christian and Entertainment
Rev. Dale Kuiper examines the biblical perspective on entertainment by conducting a concordance study of Scripture's vocabulary and emphasis regarding leisure, work, and Christian conduct. Through careful analysis of what the Bible says and does not say about entertainment, games, and sports, Kuiper argues for a biblical standard of sobriety and warns against worldly attitudes of boasting and glory that often accompany recreational pursuits.
In preparing this speech, I thought it would be helpful to check out in a concordance the words usually associated with our subject of entertainment. What do the Scriptures say?
