This article addresses how we can know the Bible is the Word of God by examining the doctrine of Scripture's self-authentication, a principle developed by the church fathers and recovered by the Reformers against Roman Catholic claims of ecclesiastical authority. Griess argues that Scripture, as divine revelation, bears the marks of God upon it and demonstrates its own authenticity without requiring external validation from the church. The piece represents a practical apologetic defense of Reformed biblical authority and hermeneutical principles.
