This is a book review of Robert P. Swierenga's comprehensive biography of A. C. Van Raalte, the most extensive English-language treatment of this significant figure in Dutch Reformed and West Michigan history. The review highlights Van Raalte's role in the 1834 Afscheiding, his pastoral and academic work in the Netherlands, and his commitment to Christian day schools, providing valuable new material on this foundational leader of the Reformed tradition in America.
