“This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek thy face, O Jacob. Selah. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.” (Psalm 24)

The Bible is a marvelous book, a divine literary masterpiece. It was written in sixty-six books by more than forty human authors over a period of fifteen hundred years in multiple languages, yet it is one perfectly unified story. It’s the story of the glory of Jehovah, centered in Jesus.

In these 25 meditations, experience the unifying story of the Scriptures as the two travelers on the road to Emmaus might have, when “beginning at Moses and all the prophets, [Jesus] expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself” (Luke 24:27).

Though intended for the season of Advent, this book can be used anytime as an everyday encouragement to worship. Individuals, families, and study groups will benefit from the daily readings, familiar melodies, and thoughtful meditations in King of Glory.

Come, behold your God, the King of Glory, and let us adore him.

This devotional contains recommended Bible readings, song stanzas for singing, and short meditations for individual or family use.
