Editor’s Note
This editorial introduces a special journal issue commemorating 100 years of the PRC's 1912 Psalter, featuring articles on the biblical foundation for psalm-singing, its historical development in the church and specifically in the PRC, and practical considerations for contemporary use. The issue argues for the continuing practice of singing all the psalms in Reformed worship as an expression of God's faithfulness and provides both historical context and theological reflection on this cherished ecclesiastical tradition.
You have in your hands a special issue on the church's long-treasured practice of singing psalms in public worship. Although our Psalter's anniversary was not in view when we planned the issue, 2014 does mark 100 years since our fathers adopted the 1912 Psalter for use in the churches.
