Sometimes it’s hard as a young person to be submissive to my elders and respectful to those in authority, especially my parents. I don’t know why I think I can get away with disrespecting my mom and dad—maybe it’s because I’m closer to them than I am with my teachers and others, and I feel that disobeying their wishes can be kept more of a secret than if I were to be an unsubmissive troublemaker in the public arena.
