Rev. C. Hanko – Chapter 1: Herman and Jantje

It seems to me that my earliest recollection is of a small, dark bedroom with a bed in a corner. The shades were drawn, but the afternoon sun shone through the pin-holes in the green shade. As I sit here probing into the past, it seems like a long time ago that this happened. They tell me that I was born on Pentecost Sunday, May 19, 1907, soon after my dad returned from the morning service at Eastern Avenue Christian Reformed Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. And I have no reason to doubt it....
