Clayton Spronk critiques Pastor Todd Wilson's attempt to reconcile theistic evolution with biblical creation through a confessional document designed to unite evangelical Christians across different creation views. Spronk argues that such unity efforts are theologically impossible because Darwinian evolutionism is fundamentally incompatible with Scripture's clear teaching on creation and God's sovereignty. This article defends the Reformed doctrine of creation against compromise positions that seek to accommodate evolutionary theory.

Pastor Todd Wilson and his church are trying to do the impossible -- in two respects. First, though it is impossible to harmonize the creation account in Genesis with the basic beliefs of Darwinian evolutionism, this has not stopped Wilson from trying.
