Dordt and the schools
This article examines the relationship between the Synod of Dordt (1618-19) and Christian education in the Reformed churches, particularly how Dutch Reformed leaders built upon Calvin's vision of integrating godly instruction with church and civil governance. VanDerSchaaf traces the development of church orders regarding schools and schoolmasters, demonstrating how the Reformed commitment to covenant education became embedded in ecclesiastical policy and practice during the Dutch Golden Age.
