In the light of these observations certain perplexing passages in the book of Exodus take on meaning for us. One such passage is the promise which God made to Moses shortly after the arrival of the people of Israel in the wilderness, and which reads in part, "Behold, I send an angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, to bring thee into the place which I have prepared.
