Hope PRC of Walker, MI
This article documents the founding and early history of Hope Protestant Reformed Church in Walker, Michigan, tracing its origins from a 1916 Christian Reformed Church congregation to its separation during the 1924 Common Grace Controversy. It provides a firsthand account of the deposition of Rev. George M. Ophoff and the congregation's transition to the newly formed Protestant Reformed Churches, illustrating the ecclesiastical and doctrinal tensions that led to the PRC's establishment.

If it hadn't been for a 1914 decision of the Michigan State Highway Department, Hope might never have come into existence. At that time the farmers located in the hook-like bend in the Grand River had access to the Christian Reformed Church across the river only by means of the state-maintained ferry.
