Kenneth Koole critiques what he perceives as a coordinated effort by Reformed theologians in the Mid-America Journal of Theology to distance Herman Bavinck's covenantal theology from that of Herman Hoeksema, while simultaneously associating Hoeksema's views with Abraham Kuyper's presupposed-regeneration doctrine. The article questions the motivations and methods of these scholars in labeling Hoeksema's unconditional covenant view as extreme and hyper-Calvinistic while favorably portraying Bavinck's position.
