It is refreshing to the soul to peruse some of the works of John Calvin in which he both criticizes the modem per­version of the truth he loved and taught and also ably sets forth and defends that truth. When we consider the argu­ments which he brings forth and notate his repeated appeals to Scripture to sup­port his conviction, we are deeply con­vinced of his sincerity and persuaded that the system of truth which he pro­pounded is more than a set of dogmas.
