Prof. Ronald Cammenga reflects on a woodcut hanging in the Protestant Reformed Theological Seminary depicting John Calvin's famous motto, "Send us wood, and we will send you arrows," which encapsulates Calvin's vision of training qualified gospel preachers for persecuted Reformed churches in France. The article explains the historical context of Calvin's commitment to ministerial education and the seminary's ongoing mission to shape men into effective proclaimers of God's Word.

The woodcut pictured on the next page, made and donated by one of the seminary's supporters, hangs from one of the walls in the seminary building. The wall joins the classroom section to the library and the professors' offices. It also faces the entrance. Visitors entering the seminary will immediately see it off to the left.
