The Church of the Redeemer
It will probably surprise you, but this church in old Jerusalem was founded by the Emperor Charlemagne (742-814). It was restored 300 years later by a group of merchants who came from Amalfi (a port city in Italy) who admired its excellent structure. It was again renovated by the Crusaders in 1150.
