Psalter Revision: Why?
Douglas Kuiper examines the theological and historical rationale behind the Protestant Reformed Church's 2016 Synodal decision to continue participating in an interdenominational Psalter revision project. Drawing on PRC synodical records from 1940-1955, he demonstrates that Psalter revision concerns—including doctrinal accuracy, poetic quality, and musical appropriateness—have been persistent issues in the denomination's history, providing important context for contemporary liturgical discussions.
