David Engelsma critiques postmillennialism by demonstrating how postmillennialists misinterpret biblical eschatological signs by applying them solely to the destruction of Jerusalem in AD 70 rather than to Christ's future return. He argues that this preterist hermeneutic causes postmillennialists to ignore current biblical signs of the end times—including increasing lawlessness, the rise of antichristian kingdoms, apostasy in the churches, and the federal vision heresy—contradicting postmillennialism's doctrine of an earthly golden age of Christian dominion.
