INTRODUCTION In Romans Paul is treating the relationship between the Jews and the Gentiles who were dwelling together within the sphere of the early church. In the first chapter of this epistle, he has described the repulsiveness of the sins which were to be found among the heathen Gentiles. He realizes, however, that this may tend to make the Jews conclude that they are somewhat of a better people than the Gentiles.
