Honor Thy Father and Mother

“Honor thy father and they mother, that thy days may be long in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.” In what way does obeying this commandment change as one ages? I think we all understand how it applies to small children and teenagers in the home, but what about young adults leaving home, or even young married couples establishing their own homes?
