In 1522 the family of John de Bres celebrated the birth of their son, Guido. Guido de Bres had three brothers and one sister. Guido went to school in Mons and then was apprenticed to a glass painter. While he worked, he heard snatches of Reformation truths and stories of Protestants being burned or beheaded in nearby villages.
