Sinai, as was said (in the article preceding) stands in Scripture for law, curse and doom. There at Sinai, the symbols of judgment and wrath -- the thunders and light­nings, the blazing and quaking mount, the smoke thereof that ascended as the smoke of a furnace, the trumpet that sounded long -- threatened and terrified.
