Prolonged Intercession (1)

The people cause Aaron to make a calf, and thus cor­rupt themselves and turn quickly out of the way that the Lord commanded them. The Lord hereupon, re­quests Moses that he let Him alone that His anger may wax hot against them and that He may consume them and make of Moses a great nation. But instead of let­ting Him alone, Moses beseeches the Lord to turn from His fierce anger and to repent of this evil against His people. This prayer is heard.
