Abraham and Abimelech

We now again come to an incident in Abraham's career demonstrative of a faltering faith. Having taken up his residence in Gerar, between Kadesh and Shur, Abraham, fearful of his life, circulated about that Sarah was his sister. This subterfuge, here prac­ticed for the second time, shows that Sarah in spite of her years was, to use an expression of Scripture, "a fair woman to look upon."
