Brian Huizinga concludes a series on the doctrine of repentance by defending the biblical and confessional order that repentance precedes and is the way unto forgiveness through Christ's atonement. The article addresses synodical decisions and protests regarding whether repentance must precede God's merciful pardon or follow as its fruit, grounding the discussion in Scripture, particularly Proverbs 28:13, and Reformed confessional teaching.
A summary With this article I conclude my treatment of the doctrine of repentance. I have used the Scriptures to explain and elaborate upon the decisions of our recent synods.
