Our Calling to Attend the Preached Word

“Hearken unto Me now, therefore, O ye children, and attend to the words of my mouth” (Prov. 7:24).  It is the calling of everyone, whether children of God or profane atheists, to hear the preached Word.  All are accountable to God to place themselves under the sound of the Gospel, even the wicked who do not and will not hear it.  But I am now thinking of what is particularly required of those who do hear the Word preached.  They have a peculiar responsibility in the hearing of the Word of God....
