Editor’s note
Editor Barry Gritters announces a planned special issue addressing sexual abuse in the church, following Rev. Nathan Decker's earlier article on the topic. The editors recognize the necessity and difficulty of treating this sensitive subject with pastoral care for victims while honoring God, and invite prayers for the upcoming May issue contributions.
Readers may remember Rev. Nathan Decker's article "Sexual abuse in the church" in the January 15 issue. Rev. Decker said about the article that even though it was "difficult to write" and "troubling" and "distressing" to read, nevertheless addressing the subject was necessary because the evil is present everywhere -- not only outside but also inside the church. It is the judgment of the editors that it would be profitable for the churches if more instruction were given on the subject. Painful...
